Miss P is 7! {Sugarland TX Kids Photographer}

It was so nice to meet miss P and her dad! He had thought of the smallest detail for his daughter’s magical session: from the matching hairpiece and earring, to the dress.

We met at Oyster Creek Park in Sugarland, TX. The crowd was starting to pile up, all these anxious people trying to get their morning exercise in 🙂 Most of them were so nice and let us have a private moment at the bridge that is also the entrance of the park – love people in TX – everyone is so warm and friendly.




Miss P was a little nervous in the beginning – at her age I would have been a complete wreck in front of the camera – my chin would have been trembling non-stop and my face would have been frozen in a smile. She however got more and more relaxed as we moved to the waterfall area and I could really see the sparkle in her eye.





At the end of our short session we discovered a log in a shady area – when we took the pictures there I had no idea that those would turn out to be the most mysterious and magical ones of the session:

Gigi’s Fall Photo Session {Sugarland TX Kids Photographer}

I have a little weakness and it’s called 135mm f2.0 🙂 My favorite lens! The bokeh effect (blurring the background) that it produces is so smooth, like a Johnnie Walker Blue Label. When used with a vision, the images emit class and airiness and stand out unmistakenly. I try to sneak it in all the time during photoshoots and exclusively use it for portraits of 1-3 people.

Needless to say, when Gigi’s photoshoot came along, I could not wait. All the stars aligned – an adorable toddler, three well thought out outfits – a rustic, playful and a glamorous one and my favourite lens. All the stars, but one – the location. I was looking for a place in South Houston and it turned out parks there are in deficit. 😦 After some extensive Google Earth espionage, I finally zoomed in on Oyster Creek Park in Sugarland. Looked great on pictures, but I never shot there. The morning of the session, my stomach was in knots. I arrived almost an hour early to explore the area…equiped myself with a vanilla latte with a double shot of espresso, closed my eyes and breathed in the warm morning breeze. When I looked, the park spread in front of me, bathed by the fall Houston sun, with its lake, nature trails and early risers driven to complete a run or a yoga routine. Already at easy, I waited for Gigi to arrive with her mommy and we went off shooting.

Genevieve (Gigi) was shy and clingy in the beginning. She held on to mommy and was not very fond of the first area of the park that I took her to – a rustic metal bridge. Some tears later and a pinkish little cute nose, I was able to capture her pulling away from the bridge attracted by the water and the exercising people.


Her expressions kept changing from inquisitive to uncertain to having a fun time:



Make no mistake, this little girl, more gentle than a flower, turned out was quite a risk taker and didn’t hesitate to venture to the water and the bigger than her rocks:


Thankfully, mommy was always there for her little girl, to relax her, to keep her safe, to keep the smile on her face as bright as it could be:
